Hi Miezekatze. I think that I can at least help you with some of this... Most vampires are born the way that they are, plain & simple. The only type that are "turned" would be the Immortals (if "turning" is even possible that is). However, the Immortal vampire would be the one to choose what type of person they decide to "turn". They may be more apt to "turn" a Pagan or someone with ideals that differ from Christianity (that would be the "witch/wizard" that was mentioned ), but the choice be completely up to the vampire so no one can really say this for sure. As for "suicides, persons coming to a tragic end, being cursed by their parents/church" being reincarnated as vampires (which is what I took the above definaition to mean)...I would disagree strongly with that statement. Having known many vampires, there doesn't seem to be a "running pattern" for such a belief. Now I noted the source that you mentioned...Encyclopedia Britannica. That explained the reason for such outlandish descriptions of vampires. You see, an encyclopedia will only give you the mythology/lore about vampires because to those types of publications we are "mythological beings". Therefore, entries about us in such publications are not generally taken as fact. Sincerely, Laurasia

kk can I say a couple of things? First Laurasia yes turning is possible however it is a very dangerous and difficult process and actually has a lot to do with a spiritual exchange not so much a change in the blood by some virus. Immortal vampires I don’t however know exactly what keeps them immortal nor a vampire. While in sangs (this also applies to the whole awaking thing) it is a degenerative condition in the blood stream that is often caused by a virus which that hemoglobin can not sustain a certain substance which allows the hemoglobin to carry the oxygen. Sorry I don’t remember the name of the substance, but do know it can be absorbed into the body by fresh blood, slightly cooked livers, and a supplement. In many younger children that are already awaken which is more rare but does occur are often found at birth and giving this supplement to sustain their blood. However this virus in most people stays dormant until the blood truly starts dying and being recreated, around adolescence. It can be recognized and through some process understood by the person as it fully take awareness within them, normally shown by another person with some knowledge of what is happening. That’s ur awaking part with the mentors. But many people don’t have people their and so start to fell more fatigued hungry and can have many other symptoms. One is the skin does not reflect as much uv rays from the sun which then starts to burn u more often because the oxygen in the blood is pour and the skin is no longer healthy. Sometimes giving it a paleish look. This is where the myth of sun light burning a vampire comes from. This is most of the info i know on mortals but i may be wrong. This is what I know as far as this subject, but im no sang so yeah ne how.

Sometimes giving it a paleish look. This is where the myth of sun light burning a vampire comes from. This is most of the info i know on mortals but i may be wrong. This is what I know as far as this subject, but im no sang so yeah ne how. Ok-I make no claims to understand how things work for 'Immortal' or Traditional Vampires here, but I do know about us sangs.Boogieman, there is no evidence whatsoever that our 'condition','degenerative' or otherwise,is caused by any kind of virus.I think, though I may be wrong on this(someone please correct me if I am)that it is the actual iron in blood, wether a vampires or a 'humans',that carries the oxygen. The 'condition' that you are describing, the inability of the blood to carry sufficient oxygen due to lack of iron,is aenemia(sp?)-which,while certainly common amongst us sangs(I have suffered terribly from it since birth)is nowhere near being a universal condition amongst us and is as common,if not even more so,amongst non-vampires.It has many known, documented causes-unfortunately,far too many for me too list here ::)Try googling it,boogie :)The skin burning-hypersensitivity to UV is also very common in both vampires and non-vampires.While it occurs in all ethnic groups,it is most common in those of us of Northern European descent. In most cases(again predominantly with those of European or causcasian descent)it is not caused by 'poor blood' but by a lack of pigmentation in the skin, resulting in a reduced ability or inability to 'tan'.There are other causes for hyper sensitivity to sunlight-a variety of less than well known genetic conditions and a few viriuses, but at the moment,I'm too ill with the flu to remember or google for any details :'(I might get back to you on that one Laurasia ,while it's very true that the vast majority of sangs awaken at or around to puberty(ie,15 - 20)a very few of us,for reasons that no-one has ever,in 16 years of asking, been able to explain to me,either awaken long before puberty(in very, very early childhood)or appear to have no 'awakening' at all,but are rather born already 'awakened'(or maybe it occurs in the first few months of life, before concious memory) as was the case for me.While I didn't learn to label myself as a 'vampire' until I was a teenager, nothing in my life, needs or behavioural patterns had changed at all to lead me to call myself such at that time.I had always fed,for as long as I could remember.I always actively craved blood and suffered, physically, when unable to obtain it-when blood proved to be largely unattainable as a child(no surprise there, and it was probably for the best that things were so )I learnt to feed as a psi(though I would not class myself as one,I find it far harder to feed so than as a sang)from people, electronics and storms.I need not,I hope,go into details of the difficulties my never-ending quest for fresh blood as a very small child in a strict,small-town catholic community caused for my family :-[Thankfully,and very much to my parents relief,I learnt discrection as I aged ::)I in no way mean to encourage any minors to seek donors or other supplies of blood. :-/But the point of this long, dull ramble was simply that while puberty seems to be the main trigger for awakening in sangs,in is not a universal feature.

Thanks for that info i got most of what i worte out of serval books on rare medical conditions and and encyclapieda of drugs and theire uses. AS i said im not a sang, so i also said i dont knwo if im correct. But yes they do have a condition they called Vampireism (sp) which is very similer to animea. And they clam animea as a degenerative condition becouse the problems in the blood. It is hemoglobin i do know that give red blood cells their color and is what carries the oxygen to the cells in ur body. It is also more comon with poor or unhealthy skin cells to be more sensitive to light, but other then that like i said i aint a sang so i could be wrong thak u for elaborating.

:)There are inded many different diseases that affect the blood boogie, wether genetic or virul or bacterial,I've not heard of that one,I'll have to google it,but your description certainly fitted aenemia, and there is definately no known virus that is the cause of general sanguinarianism.

Hi guys, I'm glad to see some activity within this area. Very interesting stuff. Stormdancer, Yes I understand about always being what you are. That is how it went with me as well. I never meant to imply that puberty was always the point at which one awakens, simply that this is usually the case. Sincerely, Laurasia

*raises hand* Yeah. I just thought puberty sucked that bad, until I noticed a huge difference between me and my friends. I mean, I always had that eerie feeling (as everyone else probably does) I was different. But what was seeing was way too drastic to be what I considered normal at the time. I'm just glad I met a bunch of the people when I did. Don't know where I'd be, or how I'd be for that matter!
Laurasia and Stormdancer I'm going to assume you two have been this way since birth. (I feel a bit ignorant for asking this) Did the "cravings" not mess with your everyday life? And when did you learn what was happening? Sorry if I seem childish for asking such a question, I'm just curious is all.

Hi Stitch. Firstly, never feel "childish" for asking a question. It's only a question afterall. Now Stormdancer & myself are two different types a vampires. I am an Energy/Psi vampire & she is a Sanguinarian (though, as she mentioned, she is able to feed in the same manner as myself it is much harder for her). Yes, I have always been this way. As for the "cravings" making life less than desireable during my childhood...that was the least of my problems. You see, my mother is an unawakened Psi vampire. That being the case, she feeds unconsciously virtually all of the time. Add to that the fact that she has Munchausen by Proxy & things become very messy very quickly. You see she was draining me during my entire childhood, leaving me suffering with very extreme symptoms of not feeding enough (though I did not realize that was what they were at the time, obviously). I suffered very nasty physical, psychological, & neurological problems due to this fact. All of this fed into her Munchausen as well, because the specfic types of "illnesses" that she prefers to "employ" are psychological/neurological ones in her children. The doctors had no difficulty finding instances of many disorders in my symptoms/behaviors due to the side-effects that I was suffering, especially when they had her help in "diagnosing" such things. During my childhood I saw numerous doctors & specialists, had been hospitalized in 2 psychiatric wards, & had been put on numerous medications. None of this helped matters. Though being hospitalized did help after sometime, as I was able to regain my energy without her sapping it from me. That only served to make things worse when I returned home however, as she had more to draw from. I did have 2 doctors in that time who were invaluable to my surviving those times, as they both were able to see through my mother's motives & refused to label me with everything that she insisted upon. You see, I have been "diagnosed" with about 10 different psychological disorders from varying doctors at varying times. Kind of speaks for itself, eh? These two doctors recognized the patterns within my mother's actions & were able to figure out what was happening. The only thing that the two of them were diffinitively able to "diagnose" me with was Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This they say was brought on by being molested & then raped as a child. At the time that I was seeing them, I had never been taught any coping skills to deal with such things & thusly suffered very real consequences because of it. They explained that living with my mother constantly trying to make me believe that I was "sick" did nothing but exaserbate the situation. That once I was able to leave my parents home & live on my own, learn & start using coping skills I would be much better & many of the "symptoms" would subside. All I have to say is they were so[/i] correct. Though they think that it was only due to the whole Munchausen thing, I know that the fact that she is no longer constantly draining me has a lot to do with it as well. I mean, I can definately see & feel a difference when my parents come to visit for a week. I need to replenish afterwards. LOL! As far as how I learned what was happening...Well that was brought about by my practicing of Witchcraft, particularly weatherworking. Without getting into another long rendition of exactly how it happened...As I became more & more adept at energy & weatherworking & the effects that I have on others around me, things simply added up & I realized what I was. I have to say it answered many questions that I had about everything that I had gone through as a child & adolescent, so it was far from being a depressing realization. And though it didn't give me the ability to forgive my mother (at least not yet ), it has given me the ability to understand her a bit more. Sincerely, Laurasia

...wow.... that's a lot of stuff to have to deal with. Thanks for clearing that up, as far as your "type" goes that is. (and now I know why you dread your parents visiting!) -Stitch

My apologies Laurasia,I didn't mean to imply that you were implying...um,er,well,you know what I mean :PWhen I first started using the internet and different Otherkin sites on it I found, and still do,many people who are extremely insistant that sangs can only awaken during or after puberty.I was hoping just to make it clear to any reading that we can awaken earlier,or be born already awakened, just as you psis can Boogieman,on the subject of Hemoglobin, here's a short defination that should help clear things up a little on the role of iron in hemoglobin/blood:) Stich, heh, well as I said in my earlier post,I lived in a strict catholic community in a typical 'small-town' setting.Just let your imagination run with that a little... ;)The priest was in and out our house so often we might as well have had a revolving door ::)He didn't approve of my "ungodly, immodest, unchildlike behaviour" at all :-/Add to that,I've long had strong suspicions that my mother is a psi vamp-that is something,Laurasia, that I would be interested in talking with you about sometime -,she appears to 'feed',sometimes quite heavily, near constantly from those around her.She also began menopause within a year of my birth, which might(I think, laurasia might know this)have increased her need for energy and the fact that blood was,for the most part, not an option until I became a teenager-I was a generally tired, sickly child.I was also put through several years of psychiatric evaluation, though (thankfully)I managed to avoid sectioning, mainly due to my fathers common-sense, and supposedly suffer from an unbelievably wide and varied range of mental/psychiatric disorders,if you accept each different opinion from each doctor as they all appeared completely unable to agree on the underlying cause of my 'abberrent' behaviour ::)I finally learnt how to 'label' myself when at 13,looking considerably older than my age,I went clubbing down London with a few friends(I,know,I know,we were very bad girls, slap on the wrist )and we went to a small Goth club.It just happened to be 'vampire night' there.Which intrigued me,not surprisingly given my past record at that point ;)So I stayed, began talking to a few people. The first few were really just lifestylers, there to dress up,look good and flounce around talking in bad Hollywood accents ::)But after a short while I met a young german man called Kristian, who I still speak with regularly, who, after listening to my story, explained about sangs in some considerable detail and also provided me with a short summery of psis and traditionals and the differences between the 3.He's a sang himself and was able to put me in touch with a few support groups for under 18's who are awakening, not quite the problem I was having but still very helpful
