A lot of Pagans have, or are looking for a patron god or goddess, one that they really connect with and can call upon with confidence, reverance, and trust. In the Middle Earth Pantheon, I feel a deep connection to Nienna, the mourning Vala who wept for the pain of Men and Elves and traveled alone to the Halls of Mandos, where the dead Elves stayed. Her tears watered the ground for the Two Trees to grow, and out of sorrow she brings wisdom. I am terrebly empathetic and am often a loner, so she is the one I try to emulate, to bring wisdom out of grief. I like also Ulmo, the Lord of the Waters, because I love water. But I would not say that it is so much of a connection as a reverence. I can barely swim and as much as I love the water and feel its power, sometimes I am afraid of it. Would you say there is one (or more) or the Valar who you are especially close with? Or one that you call upon, or revere or think of often?

Elbereth first and foremost for me, I call upon her often. I have learned much from Nienna as well. Manwe I relate to as well. In fact, I respect and honor all of them, our elder siblings in the "eyes" of Eru. They are like our older brothers and sisters who help us out when we need help, help us get up when we fall, and they are a pleasure to be around overall. We can learn much from them.

I would have to say the Vala that calls out to me the most is Yavanna..
All of them are to be respected of course, but Yavanna is the only one that I have ever felt a connection with.

Well, for quite some time I have revered Mithrandir as my patron God. Not quite the same, but not so different either. Sincerely, Laurasia
