"She Moved Through the Fair/Once I had a Sweetheart" by the New World Renaissance band.
Both of these songs are Irish traditionals.
~The lyrics for these two songs, appearing to be more recent in creation than the melodies, were probably added after one of the many infamous potato famines.~
My young love said to me, "My mother won't mind, and my father won't slight you for your lack of kind." She came close beside me & this she did say, "It will not be long, love, 'til our wedding day."
She stepped away from me & she moved through the Faire, and fondly I watched her move here & move there. She traveled so slowly with one star awake, like the swan in the evening moves over the lake.
Last night she came to me. My young love came in. So softly she entered her feet made no din. She came close beside me & this she did say, "It will not be long, love, 'til our wedding day."
**********************************************
Once I had a sweetheart, but now I have none. She's gone & leave me to sorrow & moan.
Last night in sweet slumber I dreamed I did see, my own precious jewel sat smiling by me.
And when I awakened I found it not so. My eyes like some fountain the tears overflow.
I've traveled through England, through France, & through Spain. All my life I will travel the watery main.
Sincerely, Laurasia

Laurasia,
I am happy to see that you have begun posting songs from one of my favorite musical artists. The song above happens to be one of my favorite ones that the band ever recorded. The music mixed with the emotions in his voice really trigger me in ways that are unexplainable with words.

Hi Brandybuck. I simply had to start putting the New World Renaissance Band's song lyrics up. I fear that they have broken up, because their website is down now & I can no longer find their lyrics anywhere. Their songs are so beautiful though, that I couldn't stand the thought of them not being accessible somewhere. Since i'm such a huge fan of theirs I decided that that place should be my website. Sincerely, Laurasia

I agree with you, and I say cheers to you for doing this. I am just so happy that I own a majority of their works. It really takes you back to distant places, doesn't it?

Hi Brandybuck. Yes it really does. I'm glad that I have quite a few of their works as well. Especially considering that most of their stuff is now out of print. The only problem is that there are not lyrics written in all of their album covers & given that fact that the do so many songs in languages that I don't know how to write....Ugh! I really wish that I could find their lyrics on the net just once more so I could get them al up in here & then we would have them forever. Sincerely, Laurasia
