Has anyone seen the show Most Haunted? I'm not sure if you get it in the states but we get it up here in Canada. Its a British reality TV show. Its a group of ghost hunters who go to all of these haunted locations in Britain and spend 24 hours there. There is about 5 or 6 investigators, 1 historian, 2 spiritualist mediums and several paranormal phycologists. Each night they have several vigils where they preform many different kinds of seances to communicate with the spirits. (Talking to the spirits, glass spinning, table tipping etc) The show totally kicks butt. They get so much paranormal evidence on camera. On top of it they still manage to maintain their integrity by keeping the paranormal phycologists there to let us know when they crew is merely letting their heightened sense of fear get the better of them and when it is genuinely something paranormal. They are starting season seven right now and just finished season 6 with a bang on Halloween. Where they spent 4 days investigating the path of Jack the ripper in London's east end. Each day for 4 hours they would have live web cams were you could watch their vigils live and report any paranormal sightings to them. I swear I heard several EVP's. It was pretty cool. Anyways I just thought I'd share this information because when I first watched the show I thought it was cheezy and not very scary. They more I watched the more I learned and now I am totally hooked on the show. If it wasn't for their integrity I probably wouldn't watch. Its very worth it. Fridays 8pm western time on the living channel. Or go to their website. www.livingtv.co.uk/mosthaunted/Geezz I sound like an advertisement for Most Haunted hahaha.

Hi Kirsty. Yes, I enjoy this show as well. (We do get it in the States. ) I have to say that I enjoy Ghost Hunters more though, as I feel that the TAPS teams professionalism, integrity & analytical nature is of a higher degree than the Most Haunted teams. Not that I don't like the show. I just think that they tend to "jump the gun" a bit. In my opinion they put too many investigators in one space & have a tendancy to accept "evidence" as being genuinely paranormal without fully investigating possible logical reasons for such "activity". I also feel that they should have better camera equipment & more still cameras. The images are much too dark, grainy & jostled for viewers to discern whether something is truly happening or if the team is simply "freaking out". The host (who I find terribly annoying with her jumpiness that moves the cameras & muffles the sound quality due to her screaming & yelling) is a lot of the problem for me. She really brings an "amateur" feeling to the investigators. I find myself watching her & saying "If the activity truly scares you so much that you can't keep your head, you need to change professions sweetheart." I shutter to think of how much possible quality evidence she has tainted with her antics. Boy, that just ended up being one really big negative post about the show didn't it? I don't mean to knock the show. It's a good & entertaining show. I simply don't feel that it goes past being just that...entertaining. For quality paranormal investigating I would rather turn to Ghost Hunters any day. Sincerely, Laurasia

I agree with you wholeheartedly Laurasia. I feel the same attachment of Ghost Hunters as you do, as you well know from the Ghost Hunters thread. I cannot be truly judgemental however about Most Haunted, because this is the first year it has been shown on U S stations. I really like the male psychic that they have with them..he seems to be to be truly genuine. I think that the team itself would operate much more efficiently if they could get that screaming blond out of there that jumps at her own shadow. I notice that sometimes she irritates her team members as well, so maybe they will find a way to replace her soon.

sooooo you don't like the show ~laughs~ hahah I know what you mean about the freaking out and screaming but thats part of what I love. Not because it makes the show more scary but because she's like a regular person. She reacts the way majority of people would react in that situation. Plus a lot of people like being in scary situations. I mean she wouldn't do it if she didn't like it.
The show is actually on its 7th or 8th season now. I agree that the first season is very amateurish, and they do jump the gun quite a bit. But as each season goes on you can see all of them grow quite a bit. Especially Yvette the blond host of the show. In fact she's pretty much the opposite of what she used to be when the show started. She still gets jumpy from time to time but for the most part she's pretty "in your face" with the spirits and when they do something "poltergeistish" she is fascinated instead of frightened. There was even an episode where she tried automatic writing and slipped into a past life regression. Its hard to explain but if you watch the episode you'd believe it to. Although I have a feeling that she was probably feeling what the spirit was trying to show her. I noticed on that particular episode she wasn't listening to what the spirits were telling the mediums. The medium said the spirit was saying she was innocent of the crimes she was accused of but Yvette wouldn't acknowledge it because the spirits had been so frightening. I think the spirit may have given her a flash of what she (the spirit) went through to show her what happened.
The main problem I notice with the show now is that they have become so gutsy and used to seeing paranormal activity that they seem to be more concerned with getting a physical response from the spirits as opposed to learning about them and communicating with them. Also Derek the medium for the first 6 seasons was a little..... "iffy" but they've got some new mediums on the show that seem to be way more interested in the truth of the situation as opposed to over dramatizing it.
I like the way they have grown and how much they have learned. Now they investigate noises and movement instead of running screaming. If you can get passed the first 1 or 2 seasons its definitely worth watching.

Hi Kirsty. Well, I wouldn't say that I don't like the show. I do, just not for genuine paranormal investigating. Though I had no idea that they had so many seasons under their belt. Perhaps we are indeed seeing the first &/or second seasons. They just started showing them over here, so that very well could be the case. The show would be quite a bit better if Yvette didn't freak out, run into people, & scream so much. LOL! So, if she has learned to control these reactions, as a true investigator should, then I imagine she is much better now. I just haven't seen it yet. That is very true. She does react the way that most people would. But that, in & of itself is where the problem lies. A professional paranormal investigator needs to be able to get past that fear & jump right into things to see what is going on, especially if they want to host a show about their investigations. Otherwise it's nothing more than watching people freaking out over something that they say they have heard or seen & the viewer has to take their word for it. Not really what I'm looking for when I watch a show on professional paranormal investigations. Hopefully, they will improve in regards to their techniques & decorum as the show progresses. At the point where we are in the shows, I would be positively shocked if Yvette didn't scream & run into the camera every time that she feels a cold spot. Sincerely, Laurasia

Well that is good to hear that Yvette becomes a better investigator. LOL. We get Most haunted on the Travel Channel, and this is I think only the first season..no later than the second season. I will keep watching when I can and see what happens.

I thought I should also mention that Yvette and her husband Karl are the creators of the show. The whole thing is there idea, so there is no chance of her being replaced. hahah I'm happy about that but for those who don't like her freaking out they might not be happy about it.
I'll watch out for ghost hunters. I don't know if we get that in Canada or not because I haven't seen it yet. I'll keep my eye open for it.

Hi Kirsty. LOL! That just struck me funny. Nothing like having connections eh? As for Ghost Hunters...I don't know about in Canada, but here in the States their show is usually on the Sci-Fi channel at 9:00 PM Eastern Time. The second season just ended on Halloween, so we're waiting for the 3rd. There is supoosed to be a Ghost Hunters marathon soon. (I'm not sure when because I didn't read the email that this announcement came in. I just noted that it mentioned a Ghost Hunters marathon coming up in the subject. ) So, if you have that channel up in Canada you can see it there. Sincerely, Laurasia
