HRC needs our immediate help because GLBT Americans are under attack as never before.
*Anti-gay marriage amendments are on the November Ballot in at least 6 states including Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Virginia!
*And just this summer, the US Congress- with full support of Pres. George W. Bush - voted on an amendment to the US constitution that would outlaw marriage equality for same-sex couples in every state of the union- including Massachusetts. In a delibrate slap at GLBT Americans! 49 Senators and 187 members of congress voted to put discrimination into the constitution! (We defeated the Amendment, but as long as the right-wing controls Congress you can be sure it will keep coming back!)
*Powerful groups like the Christian Coalition, Family Research Council, and Focus on the Family are working and fundraising relentlessly to oppose GLBT equality and ban same-sex marriage, civil unions, and parenting rights in all 50 states!
That's why I'm writing with this urgent plea- to ask all of YOU to become a supporter of the HRCand to send the most generous contribution you can to help us fight back against right-wing, anti-gay extremism!
You see, to fight these religious and political extremists effectively, we must match them person for person and dollar for dollar.
We proved that in Cincinnati, Ohio, where HRC's financial and political efforts in support of local activities has led to a new law prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, and public accommodations.
Please help and fight for GLBT American rights! Our success depends on all of you!
