OK...Ok..ok...I'm excited, nerves, and scared all at the same time! not only am i ungrounded now but today i got my first solo....i wasn't even trying out! I was, well, kind of over heard. Even though I havn't played in the band for 2 years now I've still been playing flute for 7 years. Anyways, *clears throat* Our Captain has been playing for 4 years, right? And she's been working on a part all year for "Night of the Patriots" and competition. It's at the beginning of one of the choir songs "Cry of the Child". Of course our band director is conducting. there is only a piano, flute, and harp playing for this song. Well the captain can't play it...so after practice she was working on it with the chorus teacher. I simply asked if i could play her flute for fun to see if i can get it and i got it perfect the first time and ended up with her part! So at Night of the Patriots and on stage at Grand O'l Operie I have the solo. Only thing is my chorus teacher asked me if the band director and i can get along and him conduct me...seeing how i dropped band he isn't too happy with me! I said yea and he should be iight with it too...i hope! ;D ;D Well i just want to share this with everyone! Wish me luck!

Congratulations! I am so musically untalented, but I always wanted to being in the band (don't know what I wantedto play, I just wanted to be a part of it.) Even when I played piano, I was soooooo bad at sight reading, it would take me over a month just to learn a piece (and not even learn it well) because I couldn't just play it right off the bat. Consequently, I have a lot of respect for people who can play instruments or sing with any proficiency at all. You must be really talented. Congrats again!
