Miracles and Magic
A few Definitions:
Miracle: The Webster dictionary defines it as "something wonderful; a wonder, a marvelous thing, something which seems to go beyond the known laws of nature and is held to be the act of a supernatural being; a supernatural event.". God is the source of real miracles. The devil is the source of deceptive miracles.
Magic: the art of producing tricks or illusions usually as entertainment by the use of sleight of hand, deceptive devices: to pull a rabbit out of a hat by magic... usually it is known by the audience that it is produced by tricks or illusions... it is fun, not bad... but it can be used for self-glory or deception as the Magicians of the Pharaoh.
Magick: The practice of performing acts with the aid of a spirit
Difference between "Miracle" and "Magic":
It is obvious.
1- A miracle can't be duplicated. A magic trick can be duplicated any time, a million times.
2- Magic is a show of entertainment, or to try to deceive someone like the Pharaoh's magicians. A miracle is a wonder with a high good noble purpose.
3- magic can be used just for fun. Miracles never were just "for fun."
4- Second, magic can be used to deceive. Miracles, on the other hand, never were used for deception. Rather, they were used to teach important spiritual lessons.
5- Third, magic isn’t "real." When a magician makes a woman "disappear," she doesn’t really disappear into thin air. But miracles were real—very real!
6- Magic is intended to entertain us and show us the magician’s talent, who may get paid for it. That is not true of miracles. Their purpose never was to entertain an audience or to demonstrate how talented a person was, and money was never involved.
7- A major difference between magic and ritual is that ritual prayer does not always apparently work, even when it is carried out properly. Magic always works when carried out properly.
8- Magic, like science, describe general and repeatable events, whereas miracles are particular and unrepeatable events.
Magic is the realm of the entertainer, the teacher, or the charlatan.
