Today Brandybuck & I spent the day at the Fayette State Park to celebrate Fayette's Heritage Day. It was wonderful. Fayette is an abandoned iron smithing village from the 1880s which now serves as its own self-preserved museum. It sits right on Snail Shell Harbor & is nestled within beech & maple hardwood forests. It's gorgeous! For the days festivities they had a band playing turn-of-the-century music (lots of marches & such), children's re-produced toys from the era, baseball 1880s-style, sack races, 3-legged races, pie social, crafts from the era, horse-drawn carriage rides, etc. And, of course, one could browse through the various buildings & houses of the village (all of which are original to the village) as is always permitted. We had quite a time. It was very relaxing & stimulating all at the same time. Sincerely, Laurasia
