Before Jesus died, he said a prayer that his disciples would love one another so that the world would know they belong to him. In the book of I John, John writes that a true disciple of Jesus walks in love and that if they do not walk in love they are not a disciple of Jesus.
Yet though the centuries the church has not always loved the way that she should have. Infact she has failed in this area and given Christianity a bad name.
But what is a true disciple like? I believe a true disciple is a person who loves the way that Jesus loved people. Always giving love and helping others.

This is exactly why my own preference, as far as the Christian path goes, is that of Gnosticism. Read the Gospel of Thomas I believe you will find the answers to your questions. Sincerely, Laurasia
