Everyone has had some sort of decoration on their body. Whether it was putting stickers on or getting our faces painted like we used to as children, drawing on ourselves for no apparent reason, or my personal favorite... tattoo's. But even as children, it had some significant meaning to us that not everyone could comprehend.
Now, being raised around Christians all my life, I never heard the end of "your body is a temple of God" and so on. I just can't quite understand why people think tattoo's are such a desecration to the body? I do understand when it comes to people who get spontaneous ones for no apparent reason, but not everyone has things put on their body for that reason. For some people, myself included, having something put on their body is just an expression of themselves.
I can speak from personal experience when it comes to tattoos. I have a yin-yang sun on my wrist, where anyone can see, but mostly for myself. I didn't get it "just because" but to help myself. It sounds silly to some but it actually helps. Every time I look down and see it I remember how hectic things are in my life and how he**ish my past was. But what it means to me helps me to keep pushing forward. There's balance and everything will work out down the road. It helped me then, and is helping me still to this day.
I guess I just wanted to know what everyone else's views were on the idea of tattoos.
