Has anyone ever heard of the Electronic Voice Phenomenon? It is when a spirit can actually communicate with you through tape recordings. You basically put on some white noise like a coffee machine or a microwave. Something that has a constant background noise to it. You then ask the spirit a question, wait for an answer and then play back the recording. Many people have heard responses to their questions by doing it this way. There are even instances of putting the TV channel on the fuzzy channel and asking spirits questions. Play back the recording and some people have even seen the faces of spirits and heard their responses. If you want to listen to some recordings here is a link to a website of people who study this phenomenon and the sounds they've heard. skepdic.com/evp.html

Hi Kirsty. Yes, I have heard of this phenomena. (I'm hoping to get a new digital voice recorder soon just for this purpose. ;D) It's rather amazing, especially when you get a very clear EVP. Tends to make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, knowing that the voice wasn't audible to you when you recorded it. Sincerely, Laurasia

I have also heard various examples of the EVP. I think that it is one of the best evidence pieces that can be put out there. Unfortunately, there will always be skeptics that will say that a team member said something into it when the cameras were not on...sometimes I do not like skeptics. i think they would try to disprove something if it apparated in front of their face. But yes, I love to listen to EVP's.

Don't let anyone tell you that it's fake... Me and a few others did it to "contact" Shawn (Britt yea my Shawn) and it worked. I even asked a personal question to be safe. If it's someone you were really close to or what not, it will get to you. His mom and myself were crying because a clear "I love you both" came out. I'm going to stop now before I get all emotional. Simply put... that stuff's real.

I like the saying "For a believer no proof is needed, for a non beleiver no proof is possible." I think sometimes some people really just need to experience something for themselfs before they believe.

Well, I've finally got my DVR (digital voice recorder). I haven't had a chance to try using it to capture any EVPs yet though. Once I've had the chance I'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes. I mean heck, we can sometimes hear the ghosts in our house like regular people so an EVP shouldn't be too difficult to get. That is if they agree to cooperate though.

There was a movie out a couple of years ago about it , and even watching that was scary . The snowy white noise on the television was played back and spirits showed flashes of future events and voices were recorded. Heres a link to the movie White Noise www.imdb.com/title/tt0375210/Recently there was another similar one called E.V.P. I cant wait to hear how you get on with this Laurasia. Good luck with it

Thanks for the link Rowan. I saw "White Noise" some time ago, it was pretty good. I'm hoping to be able to do some EVP work soon, but I have to wait until I can be sure that the household is going to be quiet....which I don't expect will happen anytime soon. ~sigh~ I will let everyone know how it goes when I am able to do it though.

*somehow hadnt noticed this thread before...*
The house actually doesnt have to be quiet, Laur--just set the recorder up any time you want, but especially if you feel someone/thing around. Some of the best EVPs I've recorded have been when there's been a group sitting around and talking.
If you need any help analyzing the audio recordings you get, you're welcome to send Me a copy and I'll work with it. Some are quite clear and obvious, but someone actually did a statistic of that somewhere and came up with those being about 2% of all EVPs. I havent a clue where they got the number, but in My experience, I'd say it's fairly close. All of the rest either have to be amplified, have the background noise cleaned up some, etc, to really be understood or heard clearly.

Oh I know that the house doesn't have to be absolutely quiet (that's actually bad for trying to get EVPs), but I would like it quieter than it usually is. We have a lot of things here that could taint the recording, such as our pet lovebird flying around & "talking". Thanks for the offer on helping with any audio I get though. I'll definately keep you in mind. Sincerely, Laurasia

I think one of the best EVPs I've heard was recorded in a dorm room with 3 guys sitting around talking and eating...laughing, dropping things, etc. It's a loud, angry whisper/yell of "there you go/are" (We cant seem to agree on the last word), followed fairly closely by "Get out!!".

I think the ones that say GET OUT freak me out the most. I would definitly not want to hear that on a recorder.

Brandybuck & I have had enough experiences here without the recorder. LOL! Such as the time that we were both downstairs folding the laundry & suddenly heard a man & woman in the living room upstairs having a conversation. I had thought that she turned the radio to amuse the bird & asked her why since we would only be downstairs for a few minutes. When she told me that she hadn't I realized what it was & immediately started upstairs. Once my feet started making the stairs squeak though it stopped &, of course, there was no one else in the house & none of the other electrical devices that would have "held a conversation" (the TV, the police scanner, etc) were turned on either.
The problem is, without getting it on the recorder, it's simply another personal experience. ~sigh~

Why does a person have to have a TV or microwave running to hear spiritual voices? I would problem have it quiet to see if I heard them. Electric things could sound like things.

Where did you get that there has to be a TV or microwave running? As for electronic things, sounds can be isolated and evaluated with sound analyzing programs, so electronic or other background noise can be edited out or at least figured out for what they are. ~Isealdor~
