~My Experiences With My "Spirit Guide"~
My first experience with him, that I can remember, occurred when I was about 4 years old. My older sister & I shared a bunk bed. I slept on the bottom.
One night I was awoken by someone saying my name. The apartment that we lived in was still very dark. I figure that it must have been somewhere between 4:30 - 6:00 a.m., because I later found that my father had already left for work.
At first I laid there, not sure if I had actually heard anything. I
could only hear my sister snoring above me. Suddenly I clearly heard my name whispered a second time. It was a fairly deep voice. Thinking that it was my father calling me, I climbed out of bed & crossed the dark hallway into my parents bedroom. This was when I noticed that my father was gone. Assuming that it must have been my mother, I approached her side of the bed. She was asleep. "Momma," I whispered. She didn't respond. "Momma?" This time she stirred. I tugged on her sleeve & she finally awoke.
She looked at me confused. "What's the matter baby?"
I yawned & asked "What do you want momma?"
"What?" she asked, even more confused.
"I heard you calling. What do you want?"
"I didn't call you, sweety. You must have been dreaming. Now go back to bed." She rolled over while finishing her sentence.
I was suddenly wide awake. It hadn't been momma, but I knew what I had heard. Suddenly the idea of walking into the darkness of that hallway was impossible.
"Momma, can I sleep with you?" I asked, trying to sound calm.
"Yeah," she croaked out.
I climbed into my father's side of the bed & sat up holding his
pillow. I just sat & stared at the large black rectangle that was the
bedroom doorway. Inhaling my father's scent in an attempt to ease my fear.

My second experience occurred when I was 8 years old. A couple of friends & I were playing at the local playground. There were train
tracks on a hill behind the playground. It was late evening & we
decided to explore the tracks area with flashlights, hoping to find
frogs, turtles, etc.
One of my friends noticed a man walking down the tracks in our
direction. The youngest became frightened & ran home, the other stayed with me. He came nearer & stopped just a few feet in front of us without saying a word.
For some reason I was never wary or fearful of him. He was tall,
wearing a dark suit & a black hat. My friend wanted to get a better
look at him so she shined her flashlight in his face & he actually
hissed at her. She screamed & ran off, leaving me with him.
I remember that his face was very narrow & rather pale. I was still
fearful of him for some reason. He, very politely, said hello & asked if we could walk & talk a bit. I agreed & continued to look for frogs as we walked.
Unfortunately I cannot remember what we may have talked about, because I only remember walking with him for a couple of minutes & then I have no further recollections of that night.

My third experience again occurred 4 years later, when I was 12
years old. I was with my cousin at my grandparents cabin. One of our favorite past-times was to get ourselves lost within the old abandoned trails of the surrounding woods.
There was an old abandoned house back in the woods that us kids would sometimes sneak into. It had very old papers & such from around the turn of the century. (If only I knew then what I know about antiques know!) It also had a staircase that, however, wasn't climbable & we always wondered what treasures laid upstairs.
Anyway, my cousin & I were headed through the woods to go &
investigate the house. While we were walking we became lost & had to retrace our steps. We finally found our way & started towards the house. When we got near the area however, we were very disappointed to see construction trucks & other such machines. It was clear that someone had purchased the house & were either preparing to tear it down or begin some major repairs.
With our hopes for exploring the old house dashed, we decided to
head back to the cabin. We again became lost on the overgrown &
twisted trails, that often overlapped each other. We started to get
rather nervous & worried as it got darker. We knew that no one lived in that area of the woods & we would never find our way out in the dark.
As it became darker, we began to hear noises around us in the woods. We tried telling ourselves that it was just little critters, but as it got darker we began to notice that the noises seemed to be moving in circles around us. Our minds suddenly reeled, what if is was one of the wild dogs that were known to sometimes wander the area? Or worse, one of their packs?
Not knowing what else to do, we picked up the largest branches that we could find & stood back to back. We were listening to the
movement to try & figure out exactly where it was coming from, but it continued to move in a circle around us. As we listened, the speed
with which it circled us began to increase until it was going at an
impossible speed. We were terrified, not knowing what could run
so fast.
Suddenly a black blur came out of the woods & knocked my cousin to the ground. We both screamed not knowing what to do. We were both crying now & afraid to move. Whatever it was had resumed its' impossible running around us again. My cousin sat there for what seemed like eternity just crying before she tried to get up again.
When she finally got back to her feet she took a couple of steps
towards me. Suddenly the black shape shot out again & knocked her down. She screamed "What is that?!" I approached her to try & calm her.
When she looked up to speak to me she froze with a horrified look on her face, as she gazed over my shoulder. I suddenly became acutely aware that the running had not resumed as before. I froze not knowing what to do as my heart raced. I knew it, whatever it was, was right behind me but I couldn't make myself turn around to swing at it.
In a low voice it said my name & sounded rather familiar. At the
sound of the voice I also calmed, though I didn't know why. I slowly
turned around & found the same man from the railroad tracks when I was 8. Though he hadn't seemed to have changed at all.
My cousin began to scream for me to get away from him, but she
seemed to be far away to my perception. He opened his arms for a hug & we embraced. A very heavy calmness & peace came over me & I lost consciousness. The next thing that I remember is waking up the following day at my grandparent's cabin.
When I asked how we had gotten back my mother just looked at me strangely & said "What kind of a question is that? You walked, of course." I had no recollection of any of that walk however. My
cousin & I have never spoken about what actually happened that night & have since grown apart. The one time that I tried to speak with her about it she said that she didn't want to discuss it & left the room.

The next time that I encountered him was, again, 4 years later when I was 16. This time did not go like the others however.
I was with a friend of mine walking along the railroad tracks by
our home one night. We used to do this all of the time, as it was a
place to be alone in the world.
There was usually an empty train parked on one of the two sets of tracks, as there was a loading station nearby. We frequently hung out on or near these trains, once even taking my dog with us inside of one of the empty cars & enjoyed a picnic lunch. We used to love the rush of speed & sound of freighters going by as we stood on the opposite track, just feet away.
One night my friend & I were walking towards the parked train &
considered stopping for a rest within the only open compartment. We approached & I was just about to climb up when she stopped me. She decided that she didn't want to sit in the compartment because she wasn't sure if she'd be able to get back down. The compartments were pretty high & the tracks were built over gravel, so jumping down could be pretty iffy. Since it was dark, & she wasn't wearing proper shoes, she didn't want to chance it.
Having changed our minds, we decided to continue our walk. We only went a few yards from the compartment when she decided that she wanted to head home to eat, so we turned back & headed the way that we had come.
As we neared the empty compartment we noticed something odd about the opening. As we got closer, we realized that it was now only partly opened. We couldn't figure out how that had happened because we would have definitely heard that big rusty door being pulled. Suddenly we realized that there was a leg swinging out of the door & that someone was sitting there. We could only see his leg though, due to the darkness of the compartment.
We froze & I asked who was there. No response came. I asked again a bit louder & more forcefully & he simply began to laugh. We both became very uneasy & he suddenly said my name & continued to laugh. According to my friend, I went ballistic. I started yelling for him to go away, that I didn't need him anymore & that I would hurt him if he tried to harm my friend. I recall very little after hearing
my name. I remember yelling a little bit & than nothing until we were home, later that night.
She says that he simply laughed the entire time that I was
ranting. He pulled his leg in as though he was going to hop out &
come after us. She says that I just told her to turn & walk away
with me without looking back, while I continued to warn him away. This troubled her, as she wanted to run. However, I just walked & ranted apparently.
That was the last time that I recall being contacted by that spirit
(or whatever he was). It has since been 11 years, so 2 four-year
cycles have come & gone without incidence from him.
Sincerely,
Laurasia
