I adore the Vampire Chronicles, with the exception of a few of the newer ones. Obviously, I love the Interview with the Vampire series, but my true favorite is The Vampire Armand. Armand has always been and always will be my favorite melancholy, victimized vampire. I have read the book a total of 7 times. I also love Marius's life story, Blood and Gold. I adore Marius as well, and he is probably my second favorite. In addition, the book shows us Marius's despair at the loss of Armand. All in all Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors. I would love her even more if she would do Santino's life story...it is long overdue.

Hi Brandybuck. Oh don't get me started! Santino is my absolute favorite character of hers, she has done him a HUGE disservice by not expanding his story! As you know my favorites from her are the same as yours..."Blood & Gold" & "The Vampire Armand". The fact that they both cover Santino quite a bit is no small part of that. Also, Marius is my second favorite character from her books. In fact, I feel that Marius is a wonderful model for what an ideal Immortal vampire should be like. Santino is still my favorite though. Sincerely, Laurasia

I agree that Santino was covered to an extent in the books. However, what I did not like is that it was one-sided. We only see the mean side of Santino, and not enough detail of the life Santino led. That is what I am interested in. However, since he was only a secondary character (that of the villian), only that side of him is portrayed. He definitly needs his own book to do him justice. I knew that you would agree with me, O Santino-lover.

I have bad news for all fans of Anne's Vampire Chronicles..it seems that she is indeed through with them. She says that all the books she will write from now on will be told from the viewpoint of Jesus. Her first book, in fact, will be told from the perspective of a 7 year old Jesus.
So, ,there it is. I am afraid that we will never see the story of Santino. She should at least sell the rights to someone who can do his character justice in a autobiography.

Hi Brandybuck.
I couldn't believe it when you read this to me out of "The Week" earlier! Alright, she has returned to the Church & become much more spiritual & only wants write about Jesus now. Fine, more power to you & good luck with it. She shouldn't abandon all of her fans that want to see more indepth viewpoints of some of her other characters (of course I am referring to Santino on my end of this.) I have seen plenty of fanfiction writers & even professional authors within her old genre that would be able to do justice to his character. I mean, she couls look over it like she did with the "Interview With a Vampire" movie if she is worried about the integrity of her work being lost. But don't simply abandon us fans!
Sell the rights to Santino as a character, woman!!!!!
Sincerely, Laurasia

The only thing that I can say in Anne's defense is that she WAS truthful in stating that she would no longer write another volume for the Vampire Chronicles. I think that all of her fans just held out the hope that she would change her mind, and finish what she started...why end a good thing? The part I hated is that she did Vitorio who has nothing whatsoever to do with the others. I hear a lot of folks complaining about her introducing Quinn late in the game, but at least he tied in with the other characters..I think that is also why I took to Quinn so easily. But the book Vitorio was a blatant waste of money.

No kidding! I still think that it was rotten of her to leave all of those characters undeveloped. I mean people don't just complain about Santino, they complain about Kayman, Mekare, Thorn, etc. I still say that she should sell the rights, or at least allow someone to write them. Sincerely, Laurasia

I agree..but unfortunately we (as fans) have no say so in the matter. Maybe some time down the line she will decide to sell the rights to her undeveloped characters, but that is probably a very long shot.

I love Anne Rice! The books are so cool! I havent read all of them though but I could say the Lestat is my favourite. He is so charming ;P And of course Marius, he is wonderful, the way he deals with eternity is unbelievable.

I like Anne Rice too. Marious is my favourite and then Armand, i haven`t read his book yet, i couldn`t real also any of the lives of the Mayfair witches (if any of you asks, my nickname responds to what i know from Blackwood farm). I agree too that Vittorio is a waste of money and time. I don `t think that she should sell the rights to another person to write Santino`s story, if it`s not written by her it will never be the same, i prefer no book at all than a bad book. A part of me is dissapointed that she won`t write any more books about vampires or Mayfair, but another is happy because i`ll can read everything now quiet without having to continuously buy books (not that i did it, i still have to read four of the vampire and all mayfair).

I've read them all . its an awful shame she isn't going to write any more. Julian is an unforgettable character , try read the Mayfair witch triology soon as you can . they tie in perfectly with the chronicles.
