Noticing that Draco had left the door open upon his entry, Severus flicked his wand towards the office door which slammed shut. "I know why you're here Draco. Now let's see what your punishment shall be." He headed into a small room just off of his main office.
Suddenly a dozen dirty cauldrons came floating out of the small room, followed by Professor Snape. They landed on a long table that had an over-sized sink at one end. "There you go Draco. Those cauldrons need to be spotless." He walked over to a drawer & pulled out various sized sponges & brushes. "And by the way, no magic. You'll have to scrub them by hand. Remember I said spotless. If you have any questions, I'll be at my desk." That being said, he silently walked back over & resumed grading his papers.

Draco watched with mild interest as Professor Snape went into the other room. He thought nothing of it really when he saw the parade of cauldrons come floating out of the door with Snape behind it. This had to be easy. he thought.
However, a moment later, Draco's mouth fell open with horror upon being told what he had to do. Well, not really what he HAD to do but HOW he was expected to do it. "Excuse me, sir? Did I hear you correctly? I am to clean these cauldrons without the use of magic?" Draco realized that he had to have heard wrong. After all, Snape knew that he was a Malfoy and Malfoy's did not do servant work.

"That's right Draco. No magic. You are to scrub those cauldrons clean using the provided sponges, brushes, & a lot of elbow grease," he said without so much as looking up towards the boy.

Draco's mouth fell open as he gave a disgusted look at the items in front of him. He sighed heavily, hoping that the Professor heard him. He was NOT happy about this, and he wanted everyone to know it.
Grabbing up the sponges and brushes, he went and threw himself down into one of the chairs at the table where the cauldrons were. hesitantly, he began to scrub the first cauldron. Disgusting! When was the last time these things were cleaned??

Severus couldn't help but smirk at Draco's obvious disgust. It was amusing to see him actually being disciplined. Malfoy's always did have a way of thinking that they were above the rules of everyone else, it was good to know that he could at least try & demonstrate how false that thought was to one of them.

***********
After what seemed like hours..Draco was finally finished scrubbing all of the cauldrons. He felt very filthy..his clothes had a thick layer of dust on them. Also, he knew that his hair was no longer the radiant whitish-blonde color that it usually was.
Standing up and brushing himself off..not that it did much good..Draco approached the Professor's desk.
"Sir, I am finished. Would you care to inspect the cauldrons to see if I may be excused?" He knew that he sounded exactly like his father..rough with a touch of sarcasm. He had tried to keep his voice calm and steady..but he was filthy!!
Draco stood there and waited for Snape to respond.

Severus looked up from his papers when Draco approached him. "Done already, Malfoy? Well then, let's see how you've done." He walked over to the cauldrons & pulled out his wand. The end of his wand suddenly lit up & he stuck it into each cauldron while peering inside of it. He put two of them to the side as he was inspecting them. Once he was finished he turned back to Draco.
"These two need to be scrubbed better on the underside of their rims. The smaller brushes should be able to reach it sufficiently," he said while placing the cauldrons into the boys hands.

Draco barely contained his anger as Snape handed him two of the cauldrons back. He averted the professor's eyes, while gritting a reply from between his teeth. "Yes sir."
He returned to the table, and picked up the smallest brush. He began to scrub the inner rims of the cauldrons. I do not see anything! he thought angrily. When he was sure that they were spotless, he returned back to the professor's desk.
"Professor..I am finished. Can you check them once again please?" He kept his voice as civil as possible.

Severus looked up once more & silently regarded Draco. Placing the end of his wand into one of the cauldrons, it suddenly lit up brightly. Seeing that this cauldron was clean, he placed his wand in the second. He eyed it more closely in order to make Draco sweat. After a minute he sighed & looked down at the boy. "This one looks good as well. I do hope that you have learned a lesson about possessing illegal substances, Draco."
He eyed the boy severely. "Alright then, you can go. And don't forget that your Potions homework is due on Friday."

Draco waited for what seemed like an eternity before the Professor finally gave him leave to go. I would swear that he is doing that on purpose. he thought to himself.
"Yes sir. I will not forget to do the assignment sir."
Draco walked out of the office, and back up towards the common room.

Severus sipped from a small glass of firewhiskey as he gathered his notes for the first potions class after break. He rather enjoyed the schoolbreaks, as there were far less students running around & needing to be tended to. It gave him time to relax & work on replenishing any of his stores that needed it.
Feeling in rather good spirits, he transfigured a wire-meshed crate from one of the corners into a violin & enchanted it to play while he worked. Humming with the music softly, he took another sip of his drink.
